On our way
So a 3am wake up by the alarm, meant we got away on time, only to check the maps to see that either way to Folkestone had road closures on the M25, we got to Junction 17 at 4.30am just as they cleared away the road signs, so a quick trip around the roundabout and back on to the M25, hoping that Junction 13 might also be open by the time we get there, and it was, no more traffic and then arrived ahead of schedule to Folkestone for our train.
Your in luck we can get on the earlier train! Yes please was our reply, straight through passport control, didn’t really look at us either and no interrogation as to whether we had any ham sandwiches stashed away! We just had to wait for our boarding number, only then to be told to go straight through, so we did, straight onto yet an earlier train.
Sorry for the delay, the train has broken down 😂😂 nearly an hour later, saw both our booked trains leave, this was going to be a long day!!!
Off the train at exactly 10.00am, just to travel through France, into Belgium and the roads were great, our planned stop in Leuven for lunch didn’t quite pan out and following our sat nat as you do we wondered why there were lots of parking spaces, and no cars on the road , it took us right into the middle of the old town, really surprised, we parked and walked into town, then saw the residents only zone areas😮😮😬 oh no, our car was not meant to be in the city, we didn’t have a permit, slight panic whilst waiting for our crepes and waffles we ordered for lunch, googling what happens to illegal cars……..it was still there and made a hasty retreat beck to the motorway, sun shining the miles passed by and then our turnoff to our village,Vijlen, in the South Limburg area of the Netherlands, our Volvo is not allowed into the German City of Aachen as it’s too old 😬 so staying just over the boarder, where it is also cheaper to stay🤣🤣 our lovely B&B with great views over the countryside watching the sun set ready for an early night.
